Kiwanis Club of Allentown Northeast
Allentown Northeast Kiwanis Club is in its 56th year of helping our/your community.
"Kiwanis is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to improving the world one child and one community at a tme".
Kiwanis does not have an attendance requirement for memberership. We ask that you do your best to attend meetings, service projects and fund raisers. These events are known well in advance and you will be able to work them into your schedule and help make a contribution to your community.
Throughout the year we are involved in many wonderful projects - both service and fundraising.
Among our projects are: sponsoring monthly recognition for fifth grade students at Ritter Elementary School in Allentown for being high achievers at the school. We are also the proud sponsors of a Key Club at the Roberto Clemente Charter School and K-Kids Club at the Roberto Clemente Elementary Charter School.
On a weekly basis a member reads at the Lehigh Valley Children's Center located on Union Boulevard in Allentown and we also provide an Easter Egg Hunt at the Center. We support the Visiting Nurses at St. Lukes Hospital, Community Bike Works, Valley Youth House, Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley and Minsi Trails Boy Scouts. We provide scholarships to the Key Club at Roberto Clemente Charter School.
We also support many other local organizations including the VISTA Program of the Allentown School District, Salvation Army of Allentown, Midway Manor Community Association, and Liberty Bell Shrine. Our club also provides funds to help with the Breakfast Program at St Paul's Church in Allentown.
Under the leadership of Club President Catherine Kane, the club is a "Model Club" for the Kiwanis International "Eliminate Project". Our member and Past President, Deborah Carey, is the Project Chair for Pennsylvania Kiwanis Division 18 for the Eliminate Project. Information on this program can be found on the Kiwanis International website.
Join us, as many hands make light work of the time and effort expended to support our community's needs.
